Ace, ah, maybe that Wikipedia definition was a little broad, but I think there's value in singers understanding each gig's rotation method, and if you're not there at the start of the show to hear the host's speil, reading it in the books is a fair option.

I'm coming to the conclusion that there are 2 distinct rotation methods used by hosts, either 'rotation by request' or 'rotation by rounds'. I would define them, from what I've read on the forums, as:

Rotation by request:
Singer order is determined by the order in which requests are received, either as slips handed to the host, entries made into the computer, or by way of adding singers' names to a list. The only proviso being that a singer's further request is valid only after he has sung.

Rotation by rounds
Singers requests form a queue where each sings just once until such time as the host closes that round and starts a new one where each singer can again sing just once.
