From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi David, yes that would be good, or 'karaoke/muso's jam', might be better, 'open mike' tends to relate to original music only and although we welcome this contribution, the goal really is to get a combination of singers who don't play an instrument (karaoke), singers who do play an instrument, and non-singers who play an instrument to attend. Possibly opening doors for a meeting of talents for professional work and learning. Further into the gig's life we may run a song writing comp or expo to encourage original music to be explored. Obviously as we've done with our other gigs we can add greater detail to the comments section. We really just want to concisely let people know that it's ok to bring their guitar etc., and either play along with a track, or provide the musical support to the singer. Having karaoke tracks available as a basis for 'jam' broadens the opportunity of variety of genres. Often Jam sessions consist of traditional blues and basic rock & roll with some regae thrown in for good measure - we're hoping as the gig evolves muso's will be adventurous and bring a diversified range of instruments and musical experience. One thing karaoke has over everything else is it's flexibility and diversity, so too do karaoke singers, they have a greater musical range than average singers. Thanks Roz Butler, KAS
