| From the Where2sing.com forum: When I first designed the site, I intended the information on gigs to be structured in 3 ways:
1. The basic factual information - place, date, times, frequency, host
2. The fundamental information allowing singers to make a choice - crowd size, songlist size, rotation, equipment, applause
3. All the aspects more an opinion than fact - written in the Comments
We now seem to have 2 challenges:
1. Since hosts have taken over most of the upkeep, claims about quality have mostly risen to the top options available
2. The hosts wish to control the comments, and allow only positive ones
I can certainly remove the options in the listings to allow more factual-based information, for example I'm thinking that 'rotation' should have just
- Rotation by Rounds
- Rotation by Request
- no particular rotation method
And that instead of quality of equipment and quality of sound, there might be something like
- Sound is loud
- Sound allows conversation
- Sound is quiet
However, this still leaves the area of comments unfettered, and forces people to read the comments to gain an impression of the venue. So it seems that the comments section needs to be addressed first - should the person (host) in control of his listing be able to delete the comments he doesn't like?
