| From the Where2sing.com forum: If it's true that pretty much every gig can attract sufficient singers to provide adequate entertainment, there seems to be no reason to offer prizes to lure extra and unwanted singers - especially if they're typically the 3-song repertoire comp chasers who are often boring despite (or because of) their polished presentations.
If the idea of a comp is attract a bigger crowd, with the side benefit of encouraging better singers, perhaps the prizes could be reserved for the non-singing audience: Every audience member submits his top-3, and those who match the judges' decision go into a lucky dip for first prize? Every audience member submits 3 song slips, singers choosing from amongst these for extra points, and the audience member who submitted the winning song gets the prize?
