Party-World is on Level 3 of Melbourne Central.
A close-friend (of some 40 years) owns twin-restaurants in Chilli-Padi and Chilli-India on the Ground Level.
I have spent many a night there (having free meals and drinks), and I do host shows there too (special karaoke nights and private functions).
And for the nights that I have been there, the stream of young-ones heading for the Level 3 Karaoke is nothing short of phenomenal!
Some of them do eat at Chilli-Padi and Chilli-India beforehand, but when invited to participate at the free public karaoke on offer on certain nights there, they all declined, saying that singing 'in public' is NOT their thing - adding that they will wait till they get to their private rooms upstairs! Go figure!!??!!
PS: Private Karaoke Rooms in the middle of Melbourne City has a ready niche market - my estimate of Melbourne City apartment-dwellers is that 70% are of Asian background, mainly Asian students and Asian retirees; add on perhaps a similar percentage of apartment-dwellers in surrounding Southbank and Docklands, BOY! the Melbourne City Asian niche market is HUGE!! Take a walk around the city after midnight and you would think you are in KL or Hong Kong or Shanghai .... LOL!
