| From the Where2sing.com forum: The thing that I am struck with the most is that people's opinions of certain things change dramatically after they've actually experienced it and a good karaoke show is most certainly in that category. I think it'd be great if we could kill the word karaoke completely and start calling it Interactive Jukebox where the crowd exclusively chooses the songs that gets sung.
There was (don't know if its still running) a radio program on 2Day FM after about 10pm that had a realtime voting system and the most amount of votes for any given song at the time the current song finished was the one that got chosen as the next in the list. Imagine that as a concept for karaoke! Your turn comes up and it doesn't matter if you don't know it, whatever the crowd has voted as the song to be sung is what you have to do. Again, easier to do with electronic voting (there's those damn smartphones again) but not only does it ensure that the crowd are literally creating their own entertainment but it also acts as a filter as to the kind of singers the venue attracts.
