From the Where2sing.com forum:

Im with you David. The few times I have been to a venue that has run Kamikaze Karaoke I too have found it boring. It's good for a laugh and a change once in a blue moon, but for the karaoke crowd and patrons of a pub/club it is extremely bad entertainment. The thing I have discovered in my time in this industry is that a lot of patrons don't like karaoke to begin with. If a person has a good voice and can carry a tune and sing a song well, most patrons will tolerate karaoke. Some will even begin to like it and see the good in it. But when someone sings a song extremely badly or doesnt know the song they are singing, I have found this is generally when the patrons of a venue will get annoyed, make their snide remarks and complain etc etc. I for one would never run it at a gig that I'm Hosting. But then that's the beauty I guess of this industry and life itself. What works for some, is not always what works for others.
