Mandy, again that's actually not the case. Practice results in skill (as in, why wouldn't this be the case when we see it ably demonstated in all facets of life and work), and indeed hosts often make reference to how singers improve over relatively short periods of time (read: practice). My father played the flute but could not sing in tune, and when young we presumed this would always be the case - however, by his later years, and with the rest of the family involving him in music, he learned to sing more or less in tune.
LB, not sure about your 'flaw', but are you of the misconception that humans don't actually come from the same basic lifeform...lol? Again, not 'my' argument - you're contesting research and its conclusions.
