| From the Where2sing.com forum: I think like Music Addict - any singing involves telling a story and that incorporates many different aspects - up to each performer how they interpret their way of telling that story. Same in karaoke - some just sing the song and others go overboard with things. All choice but in reality no difference between singing or karaoke. Karaoke is just a commercial effort to try and make money by having anyone regardless of singing ability 'have a go' so you get all facets of the spectrum. If a singer was no good at singing then they would lose an audience quite quickly. A karaoke singer is 'forgiven' (by some) if they are crap. But if they were crap and giving a 2 hour performance, or even 15 minutes they would also lose any audience they had!
