| From the Where2sing.com forum: At the start of W2S, I used to be fairly ambivalent about competitions - they didn't appeal to me, but I didn't mind watching people having a go at it. But after a short while of being impressed, I heard the same songs, the same delivery and the same moves over and over again - it's far less impressive when you realise that every one of the few songs has been practiced forever, and the moves have been done endlessly in front of a mirror. It's a bit like comparing an original watercolour with a mass-produced print. And so I became bored of even watching comps.
But what I've learned over the years is that the bitchiness extends far beyond the competitors - have anything to do with a comp, and suddenly something's your fault. I've comp to the conclusion that it's not comps,. per se, but the competitive spirit in those attracted by them.
