| From the Where2sing.com forum: I'm going to go against the grain here, and no offence intended to anyone, but I'm not absolutely sure that managing to turn up every night and run a karaoke show yourself necessarily means that the ultimate show has been achieved. It suggests to me more that the minimum (and perhaps a far way over, in some circumstances) has been met in requirements for a sustainable gig. The reason I say that is because I have been part of a few businesses where traditional operating has been torn apart and re-thought, resulting in a far expanded business - so excuse my views that questioning the status quo and rewriting the rules is a great way to go.
As I saw in Rov Deal, who appears to now have a business far beyond a half dozen shows run by himself.
But actually, I meant to ask a completely different question: Why is it, with the limited spaces in a show for singers, and hosts' regularly written desire to have a high proportion of audience to singers, that hosts are invariably encouraging non-singers to 'get up and have a go'?
