| From the Where2sing.com forum: I think if they thought '' out side the box '' and place the heats on a '' Dedicated night '' a part from the Normal karaoke night instead of trying to place all there eggs in the one night of karaoke basket , this would eliminate many problems such as alienating regular patrons to the venue , folks whinging when outsiders come to take home the '' goodies '' , placing pressure on the host or hosting Co to redeem the outlay of monies , now what it will do is give the venue / host the availability of Capitalising on there current clientele yet sourcing folks from outside with a minimum of fuss and risk plus give the Comp and venue and host a sense of Grandeur and importance , advertising can be far better directed to the comp and venue and of course there would no life after Comp blues yet in saying that , still many other things that happen at Comps need to be '' fix up '' ...The predictability of songs , the many times very suspect judging that happens at Comps , the bullsh*t with '' stringing people along with false hope just to make up the numbers each heat and as L/B says rewarding only the '' perfect voice '' ( if there is such a thing ) and not rewarding the '' risk takers '''for want of a better term and just start pouring in the '''Fun factor more '' better , faster shows with hosts that know how to entertain and keep the crowd on there toes plus get the Comps out of '''Public Bar '' type venues into more relaxing areas of venues where it can be done leaning towards a more '' Cabaret '' type show , lifting its profile from a '' sideshow '' to a entertainment experience , this may take bigger outlays but i believe the returns would increase and the reputation of Comps will get better
