| From the Where2sing.com forum: I too have a JVC disc player installed in my rig...and at a pinch I will play a disc if required...however...some illegal copies are so authentic looking that on a very busy night (50+ singers) I have neither the time nor the patience to ascertain the authenticity of a singers disc...especially when they present me with a song and version we already have in the books.
We recently hosted a venue for a month...the singers that came nearly all brought their own discs..some songs we had ...some we didnt...but most were songs that I have never/rarely heard at karaoke...Bobby Rydell/Bobby Vee...Annnette Funacello or whatever her name is etc etc and frankly it was a pain in the arse having to switch from one player to another (Computerised to disc) and redirect /video feeds/channels etc etc.. all night...no thanx!! We now avoid playing singers discs (regulars)...any new guys who bring discs are told of our new (but not set in cement) policy...:-)
