From the Where2sing.com forum:

MB: It depends how you want to handle your crowd and how the set up is.

If it's a 2 operator show and the people are intimately involved in updating the list, maybe. If its a 1 person show or the host is not the one who updates the list (multi-rig) then I can see this going off the rails in a hurry.

Even if the system worked, it's ignoring one of the key things a book allows a singer to do, that is to browse. I went up to Castle Hill Tavern last night with some friends and submitted a few songs without looking at the book. All three of us submitted 'default' songs, songs we do often and therefore are at the forefront of our minds. That's usually what happens when you don't look through a book, you submit the songs you think of first. When I go to EE shows, I still like to look through the book (even though I personally built the list for 2 years) because it's fun to find that song you thought of doing 6 months ago but never got around to it.

So my concern is that a 'no book' show will have everyone defaulting to their first pick songs. Now true, a lot of people only submit their first pick songs with or without books but I don't think it's a good idea to add to the number of people doing this because they can't browse.
