| From the Where2sing.com forum: One thing I would highly recommend for karaoke businesses with a very large list (over 15,000) is to work on putting together a 'best of' list. A karaoke song list has a power that I think isn't as astutely utilised as it could be. Most people will look to the book for their choices and most hosts complain that *some* singers choose their songs poorly but excuse it because a singer should be aloud to sing whatever they would like. I subscribe to the same idea, however there's nothing wrong with not putting songs you don't want sung in front of the singer!
My suggestion in essence means while you might still have a Master Book, you construct a list for your patrons that comprise all of the really great karaoke songs. Don't want to hear Piano Man at your gig? Don't put it in the book! So goes for Paradise..., Rock Lobster or heaven forbid My Way. You can also cull those songs that have never ever been sung (but still keep them in your Master and on your system) which not only means that you getting rid of the filler but you also focus the singer's attention and reduce the time it takes to choose a song. I doubt you'd get many complaints if at all and you dramatically reduce your printing costs.
