Hi LB & David.
We use Kjams software to run our shows. It does a number of nice things.

However, as with most software, the possibilities that different people imagine would be a help, sometimes don't turn out that way in practical use. Kjams has a forum where users of the software can request further enhancements. The developer is constantly updating the software with bug fixes, enhancements, etc. Some of these enhancements can work out as detrimental.

Rotations are ALWAYS the biggest issue in running a karaoke show, and it does not matter what system you use: whether you allow the computer to create the running list, sheets of paper, whiteboard, etc. (I've tried them all). Someone will always find a reason to not be happy with the rotation.

One of the common theories is that people believe that a rotation is like a normal queue, (e.g.. to buy tickets, to get served at a supermarket, etc.). Not true, as in a karaoke rotation, you keep going back to be served again.
This works fine when you have a small rotation, but once the rotation gets long enough to be over an hour or so, problems start occurring:

- If you put a new singer to the end of the rotation they may have to wait for over an hour. Generally they are not happy.

- If you slot the new singer into the rotation at say spot 4, and you have been displaying the rotation, some people become unhappy as they see their next song moving back in the rotation. They may even say, 'how come I sang after x person last time, but now I'm not following them.

All things in life are not perfect, but we continually strive to make them better. There will probably never be a time when we can sit back and say, there is no way to make this better!
