| From the Where2sing.com forum: I think w2s' greatest strength is what it was originally built for and what it currently does and ironically, incidentally or even intentionally, each upgrade has simply made that strength more efficient. I was talking to a trivia host friend of mine today about the lack of a trivia gig database and what makes w2s such a great resource and this is what I told him (he's not familiar with the site): w2s acts to show singers what all your options are. Before w2s, a well connected singer might have known about 2 or 3 venues to go to but by and large they went to their local because that's all they knew. Regardless of how good or bad the show was, regardless of how worthy of being financially viable that show was, it got a crowd because people didn't know any better. I can't say to what degree but w2s' greatest strength and what I'd say its been most responsible for is that it has helped show singers that they can demand a better quality show because w2s encouraged them to branch out and try other shows and there's a decent chance that they found shows much better than the one they were going to.
Every single upgrade to w2s has been able to build on that premise; to connect singers to shows that they are more likely to enjoy and hopefully this has/will lead to a point where your Friday night karaoke show in suburb x isn't just competing for singers in that and surrounding suburbs but now you're competing with gigs all over the city and if you want a crowd, you need to put on a good show or risk losing them.
The next iteration of w2s, in my mind, is simply asking the same question you've always asked: how can we connect singers to shows they want to go to (but may not know about) more efficiently. What information do they want in order for them to make the best decision and how does w2s get a hold of that information?
