| From the Where2sing.com forum: L/B ....In the old days when karaoke was new , late 80's mid 90's , I and a few other hosts would take the time to show singers how to hold the Mic and we would do this a couple of times a night if we thought that it was needed , but back then i would say most hosts ( if not all ) came from a stage background ( pro or semi pro entertainer ) so we knew all the ins and outs of holding a Mic , sadly no one does this any more....
This is how i would train / educate a room to using a Mic ....
I would ask every one interested in singing to pick up a pen ( always heaps around the room ) , then i would say '' place and hold your upper inside arm ( between shoulder & Elbow firmly against side of body ) then move lower arm with Mic in a up and downwards ( towards bellybutton ) as needed with vocal strength and loudness this is a sort of semi circle plus when doing this way holding the upper arm will ensure that you can move in any direction and the Mic will stay with the mouth .
So perhaps hosts ( the ones that know ) could start with the pre show instructions again , yet I've seen many hosts over the past 10 or so years that have NO idea about professional Mic technique so it could be a case of the blind leading the blind .
