From the Where2sing.com forum:

Vic............ I totally agree with you and as a singer I like to take my own discs along to a Karaoke venue because I know that the version I will get, is the one I'm use to.
I went to one venue one night and tried to sing a song they had and it turned out to be totally different to the original song and in fact the music was also out of tune. Consequently I completely stuffed it up.
If a venue has the same disc then I will use theirs.
As a singer my pet hate is not being allowed to use my own disc and I generally avoid the venues that won’t allow me to use them which incidentally are few and far between.
Now as a Host I do not mind if singers bring their own discs provided that they are not burnt.
If they have a disc which is the same as one I have then I inform them that I have that disc and use mine.
I always check the singers own disc and if it looks like a pizza then we clean it before playing it.
We have a CAVS and a JVC triple draw so we can generally play all formats of Karaoke discs, that is, CDG’s, SCDG’s, VCD’s and DVD discs. Any other format is generally burnt or a play station Karaoke disc.
I have said on this forum before that I think the main reason hosts don’t like using a singers disc is that it extra work for the Host.
I will continue to knock back burnt discs and also continue to play singers original discs as a service to our singers.
Kind Regards Kev
