| From the Where2sing.com forum: Addict.. I wrote a review about a year back of Live Band Karaoke at Camperdown's HQ http://www.where2sing.com/review15.shtml . It looked like it would be great, but the reality was the drummer falling off the beat, no one in the band quite knowing whether to follow the bass, lead or singer, and the band getting tired and taking a rest every 30 minutes. A songlist of 60 songs, mainly older hits, 5 people to feed from the night's $1800 fee, a packed pub but unlikely to make a profit over that fee, and only about 15 singers in the night.
Apparently it all works really well in corporate work, because you can have 10-15 singers but everyone in the company function knows them and thus feels involved. And companies are fine spending the normal $3000 fee asked for the night.
Karaoke has a lot to offer: Songlist of thousands - classics to latest hits - top notch backing, just like the original - quick turnaround giving 60-70 opportunities to sing in the night - no musical talent required (but desired...lol) - and all for $300-$600 for the venue. Unbeatable, no wonder it's so popular.
