| From the Where2sing.com forum: Karaokebug... I will have a look for a positive review, and apologise that the weight of numbers did seem to be with the less than perfect. However, there are so few gigs that seem to be run with anything approaching professionalism that this is rather a daunting task - but perhaps you liked the review of Noosa Surf Club?
I write a very personal perspective in these reviews, but it is based on some years of business experience as well as having a high number of venues with which to compare with one another. If I were to write the sort of review that is more an 'advertorial', then it would be pointless, banale, and be of little interest to most people. I write subjectively so the reader can choose to disagree with me but still maintain interest in going and seeing for himself. I also write mainly from a one-visit perspective, so there is not the 'friends' factor making me overlook the faults.
I also think that the industry standard will be lifted by correctly assessing the present state of affairs and addressing the issues rather than trying to cover up the inadequacies with sugarly superlatives and fawning nonsense. Where2sing is subscriber, rather than an advertising, funded site so that it can operate with beholding to any particular host or venue.
And do believe me when I say that I have searched long and hard for the good points in some of these venues, and what you read is absolutely the sum total of anything resembling 'good'...lol.
