From the Where2sing.com forum:

gold coast girl... I don't sing at every karaoke I attend. I love karaoke for the atmosphere, the entertainment, and the people. If I feel like singing, I will.

If I need to sing, whilst doing a review and not feeling as if I'd like to sing, in order to comment on the sound for the singer, I will sing; but this was not required for the Beach House (due to the sound coming from the venue's own system), nor for the Caledonian where I was also interested to see how a newcomer would be welcomed into a small Sunday afternoon group.

The reviews are written with the purpose of making public the karaoke experience at venues around the country. Some of my personal favourite venues have faults a mile long, but I enjoy them because of some particular, and personal, liking. I am not upset when I read comments by others on the site that name the faults of places like Sydney's Covent Garden - which, incidentally, I enjoy. That's why I write in a style designed to draw my reader a picture of the night, so that he can decide whether it's an experience that he would enjoy.

The other purpose of the reviews is to educate singers as to what's available, which puts pressure on hosts to perform well. And hosts read the reviews and are able to critique their own performances in comparison with these venues, and thus gain an insight into the views of a singer. This does not mean that hosts necessarily follow the website's or singers' suggestions, but rather they make better informed decisions about how to run their show.

And by the provision of this forum, everyone can have their say so that my reviews are not the defining word.
