Dizzy...
Sorry to take so long in getting back to you re your question which is actually covered in my post to Gold Coast Girl below - yes, I used to compete, no I don't any more. As for what I sing: EVERYTHING. 20th Century covers most of it with classical and contemporary to round it off. Used to specialize in ballads from the 40s - 60s and 50s and 60s rock 'n' roll and still like my Elvis Presley rarities but have since expanded my repertoire considerably and am forever experimenting as I don't like repeating myself at karaoke if I can help it. Thanks to completing a course by one of the top vocal coaches in the US, I am now trying my hand at songs previously way out of my range so the repertoire is still expanding and I'm kind of regretting announcing my retirement from the comp scene last year (or was it the year before? Can't remember). However, I've got my sights set much higher these days not that karaoke comps are bad. They're GOOD, just not AS good as what I'm looking for.
Glad your gig went well the other night. I used to compere shows myself several years ago and you seem to have come through the experience with flying colours. I'd merely add that knowing how everything works is a plus and being able to engage the crowd and work WITH the venue also go a long way. I much prefer being a punter though - you get more songs that way!

Catman...
Why thank you, ma'am. See? I DO read other people's posts! lol
