A Host: The problem with submitting a news item to gain access to new gigs is that it's often a catch-22. In order to write about a venue (which is the easiest news item to submit) that you haven't already commented about, you'd need to know where to find it, which is what you need the gig guide for. Only way to get around this is to use the gig guide to find a new venue, write some comments and hold onto them until when you need to use the gig guide next...
I honestly don't see the downside to allowing a US$1.95 for 3 days rate, considering that the people who would use this are people that w2s isn't getting any money out of anyway...
