I will pass on your comments about promoting MALAYA on W2S to SAMMO, but I think he loathes selling to the converted ... MALAYA is well known to all Victorians already.
The previous trial with Open Mic Nite was unsuccessful because it was a joint venture with vhp Records as I pointed out in my post. vhp Records is a virtual recording set-up run on a shoe-string, and its artistes are 16-20 YOs, hence the failure, as they cannot even muster up support from 7 people each with $35 to spend!
Yes, David, talking about commercial reality ... one does not give anything away for free. Hence for the 'favour' MALAYA is doing for the performers (providing a performing venue, an audience, a chance to self-promote, etc.) MALAYA is seeking 7 paying guests at $35 pp for a 5-course banquet meal .. so, for $245 (not from the singer's pocket mind you ...), 8 people get to dine on a 5-course banquet, while being entertained. Where else can someone pay $245 to get a chance to perform 25 mins at a venue, with at least an attentive captive audience of around 50, AND have a 5-course feed thrown in for 8 people, and where the singer can self-promote with posters, CD sales, etc. to his/her heart content?? That's a fair exchange in my books .. quid pro quo.
And as for your jibe about me being a Subscriber, well, not unless it costs us to chat here in the future ... I do not access the other W2S features ....
