| From the Where2sing.com forum: Jason there certainly will be a lot of questions before and if an Association could be formed.
The whole idea is about the Karaoke Industry itself establishing what an acceptable standard of ethics is or code of conduct as the case maybe and what isn’t.
In any Association rules must be set and people elected into positions.
If you have one rule for one and a different rule for others it would fail and the question I would ask is why you would go to all the trouble of setting up such a scheme only to apply different rules and have it fail anyway.
Questions of cost to join would be discussed on the 1st meeting.
There are people that are not members of the MTA but are successful and fair operators but if I were to buy a used car I would lean towards a dealer that was a member of the MTA.
It would be hoped that Hotels would also lean towards hiring Karaoke operators that complied with a set of standards as apposed to those that had no standards and used burnt disc and had no legal liability insurance etc.
I do not hold all the keys to this and have put down some thoughts to generate discussion but unless we do something within the next several months it will continue to be just that, a discussion.
