If everyone adopted the attitude of I’m alright Jack I’m inside the boat and you’re outside of it swimming who cares then unfortunately the world would be a worst place than it is now.
As you are aware I only have one gig and with a wife that’s sick and that’s the only gig I want at this stage, so by forming an Association it would not assist me in any shape or form, but having said that I do have an alliance with the Karaoke Industry and if I can help in some small way to rid it of shonky burnt disc operators then I will.
I was the NSW Secretary of the Australian Maritime Officers Union for 20 years and my pet hate is what I call “Fly by Nighters”.
People that didn’t give a dam about rules, regulations, safety or who would undercut reliable operators because they cheated on wages and cut corners on safety etc.
This is not about protecting my gig, as I will do that and have done that for the last 3 years as you know by producing what I think is a quality show at a fair and reasonable price.
This is about doing something for the Industry as a whole and giving the best possible chance to genuine operators that have done and are doing the right thing.
It also will pick up the game of some of these operators and hence a better deal in the end for singers.
