Wasn't there an attempt last year to setup an association? I'm kind of inclined to side with Rob on this as people will always try and get the best deal they can and boundaries are indivdual for many people. I reckon if you protect your gigs then you don't have to worry about the crap as it will sink to the bottom.
I think there is a definate need for what I call 'tier2' providers such as Five Star, Entain and AAE. They are budget-priced, they stick to the law and often more than not are very profitable for their employers. Why? Realistic pricing, excellent location selection and training of staff. Sure, its not always concert-sound, its loud, rowdy and free-spirited but they pack venues out and generate good bar takings. And isn't that what a venue operator is looking for?
