| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi All...Just thought I'd mention that St Marys RSL is not on this week as they are have the Grand Opening/Celebration of the new Bowling Club in the Auditorium. So we'll see you all in a fortnights time. By the way Karaoke has been running there for 17years with only one change of Operator and that was cused by the other company having all their gear knocked of. I was just kicking off and as I was only doing private shows and disco's I lent the guys my Karaoke gear till they could get some new stuff themselves. One of the partners in this business did not want to carry on and offered me an opportunity to purchase half the business. This I did, and the gigs were split. I took the weekend work and the other gentleman took the Monday to Friday gigs. When I started at St Marys there was a certain gentleman accused me of stealing his business name, he was told by the former owner of the business that name had been registered for ten years. This same gentleman tried to steal one of my gigs when I was performing one night at a venue. We are still working at this venue after 5 years, it was sad because the Manager proceeded to throw him out of the Pub. So you see Joan and I have always believed that if someone is desperate enough to work for nothing some unscrupulouis Hotelier will exploit them and send them to the wall. The question has to be asked who is the worst culprit the undercutter or the Hotelier for hiring them. As Rob has stated you need to sell yourself well when approaching a new client and then deliver on what you promise them and keep delivering. And by the way the other operator that split the business with me is still a great mate and one of the best Operators in Sydney, I'll let him reveal himself if he wants too. Let me say this before I dissappear again most of you in know and love him.
