Mic Rophone.... indeed, everyone will see only their own 'State' forum. It just seemed like too many forums in the list if I displayed every forum for everyone.

As regards the recent chat, the Karaoke Association idea was a big deal some months back, and didn't gain much support from hosts. Basically, those who are successful are able to fend for themselves, and those who are struggling or losing gigs seem to be doing do deservedly. I came to the opinion that there may be a time to get involved with promoting hosts who use only genuine discs, display high business ethics, and carry appropriate insurances - but I think the time is not now, and I think there is insufficient current support. Not least of all is the sticky question of who decides that a particular host is above or below a certain qualification point - if this rested on there being an accusation that a particular host had played a burnt disc, then there'd be false acusations flying everywhere (and do you draw the line at 1 burnt disc, or 5, or 10, or 100?) I'd suggest returning to this subject in maybe 12 months when the W2S community has built even further, and the subject may have become clearer.

As for CareAoke, I'd suggest starting with one-off events on different subjects until a clear winner is found. Will it simply be a monthly get-together of karaokers at a particular venue that may be somewhat quiet at present so as to give plenty of opportunity for singing - perhaps a good starting point if the number of attendees is unknown? Or will it be a special night with a specific purpose and all the work required to get local publicity - but I doubt this could be successfully run more than once every three months or so? I think you will have to decide on things yourself without much other help, set the specifics and divide the work up and then ask for volunteers to do each task. To make each event successful, I think you'll need a clearly defined and simple goal. As to what these goals may be, perhaps one could be to take a group of forumers to a new area and promote an 'Introduction to Karaoke' night for the local community with the aim of building awareness of how good karaoke can be - either staged as a 'come and try out karaoke with us' night, or perhaps as a 'Cabaret Karaoke' night of free entertainment that utilises karaokers as a show, but with the message that these are just normal karaokers that you would see in your normal pub karaoke. Perhaps encourage chat in the CareAoke forum about how it could develop - to my mind this seems better than organising a night of discussion somewhere (because isn't that what forums are for anyway?)
