From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi David, I wish you would write an article about the practice of hosts who put endless numbers of people who arrive late in front of people, particularly regulars who give them support. I and my friends try to support local hosts, one of whom you gave a good rap recently. Recently arrived at 4 p.m. start, sang about 4.45, every newcomer who came and went sang before I left at 7 p.m. Told I was still ten songs away, THE PLACE WAS ALMOST EMPTY except the regulars who were still waiting for their second song THREE HOURS LATER. These hosts would not like waiting in line at Woolies and the check out operater putting people in front of them, ENDLESSLY. Can you please write an article about this as I am seriously thinking of giving Karaoke away. Three hours for a song, while those who wander in and leave, wait no time, sing and shoot through, usually spending little on drinks etc.! My friends are starting to feel the same way. These hosts will then ring around to their regulars if they need a crowd or need to keep their numbers off. We like fools run along and give them that support, particularly if they are starting a new gig, and then get treated like crap! Regards

The place to air your thoughts is in the Boiling Point section of the main page - and you can of course also name the venue if you'd like. I think that many hosts are unaware that singer rotation is one of the most important values of a karaoke gig, and lose singers because of this. Of course, some hosts do this to get rid of some singers, so if you are pushed out of turn it's best to presume that the host doesn't want you there, and to find another karaoke...
