From the Where2sing.com forum:

Isingall....Must have been a weird comp. at that venue , if you need a musical instrument then it's hardly Karaoke. I've been in comps in Melb. , Sydney & Darwin , & they've all had that same criteria as Kev was saying......a mark out of 10 for vocal ability ; out of 10 for presentation ; out of 10 for audience response........ I thought this was a fairly uniform judging criteria .... good luck in your future comps...... & it's great to hear from someone out west !!

Kev....Good to see you're still holding the sth-west together....I missed the first two acts last night & only realised the show was on when Michael Bevan sang & onwards.......a little surprised to hear you say the judges were idiots .... from what I saw I thought they largely (collectively) got it spot on. There were a couple of small discrepencies between judges within the one act here & there , but when they tallied up the scores for each act , the over-all scores were a good reflection of their standard. Not forgetting too , that it was the judges first night , & they can only call it as they see it. It just shows how difficult it is to be a judge for any competition , there are always going to be people who disagree with a decision , that's human nature , & what keeps it interesting. I was struck by how 'Karaoke-like' the whole show was , & I'm looking forward to see how these pairs go , & what songs they choose to try & maximise their level of talent / vocal / harmonic ability......Go Champs & Wendy ....&....Sarah & Guy.....already , I think these two pairs will fight it out at the end , but there's a long way to go......
