| From the Where2sing.com forum: Maybe .....:-)...I still think APRA is a load of crap!......I spent the best part of my morning buffing out seemingly insignificant and very minor scratches on a few of my discs to stop certain tracks from skipping and going ape during play.......and I am now of the firm belief that all DJ`s/KJ`s should be entitled to make one working copy of any legally owned disc......given the very nature and the high risk of damage to our discs involved in working this business for around 200 karaoke shows/year....after all is there any company willing to insure my discs against damage?.....not likely!
In my 4 years as a KJ Istill havent been tapped on the shoulder by the 'APRA copied disc police' during a show (maybe they were there incognito...Tony the Truckie ,,LOL)........and I dont know of anyone else either......although almost everybody you ask ....knows of someones brothers ...cousins father who knew a KJ 20 years ago..... who lost all of their discs......equipment.... and was summoned before the Pope and given a severe thrashing with a wet biscuit!....as my poor old Dad would have said (rest his soul) 'It`s all a lot of bull' (in a Dutch Accent LOL).......This issue of copyright is in need of serious review.
I just recently changed my Cable TV from Analogue to Digital.......now as far as I am aware the copying of Movies/TV programs is also illegal...yet OPTUS and FOXTELL actively promote and give detailed instructions on how to use their new systems to copy your favourite movies for viewing later.....Of course we have all done it ..but technically it is also in the same boat as Karaoke/CD`s......IT IS ILLEGAL.......Yet when I put the question to the OPTUS installer ..his answer was that it was OK unless you made copies for sale.......I wonder if APRA has had a chat to OPTUS/FOXTELL yet ?............;-)
