| From the Where2sing.com forum: Tom , M/A , David , Jason .......I'm a little surprised at the degree of responsibility you heap upon the average Karaoke punter. Dont forget , they're not professionals , & very few would have the resources to practice songs prior to the night. If you dont own a Karaoke rig , how can you seriously practice before hand? The average singer just comes down for a sing , 'cause they felt like it. Sure , during a competition , you hope they've at least tried out the song a few times , but with a new song , there's no other way to know if a song fits than to just try it , & see how it goes . If a person sings 'Honey' badly or to close to the mic , I reckon it's wrong to read in malicious intent , unless they're looking you in the eye , & holding up the 'rigid digit' . The fact is , they just dont know any better . Who do you know that deliberately gets up to sound/sing bad(ly) And for that matter , just what is bad ? Many , people might cringe at , say , Joe Cocker's gravelly voice , yet others are moved & inspired. Me personaly , have always been surprised at the accolades afforded to U2 , & specificaly Bono . There's something about the timbre or his voice that just doesn't do it for me , but I (try &) recognise that it's a very subective thing , the way the human voice lands on one's ear , & U2 wouldn't be where they are if I was totally right.
Song_2_sing.....What a sweetie you are ...!! We really did hit the 'sweet spot' with a couple of those songs , didn't we ?!! With my limited versatility , I fancy you saw (heard) the best of my voice , & believe me , I've struggled lately , whereas with your soft , clean & clear voice , I think there's a much bigger repertoire available to you . You do have an excellent ear , with that natural ability to blend with your partner , a God given gift .....!!!
