From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi everyone,
How are you all doing? Barri Tone see you are back in town. When are you coming down to Melbourne?
On the topic of cordless microphones, I think it depends on your venue, if it is a toned down casual, lounge type karaoke, yes the cordless microphones are good, but in a pub situation, we would never be able to get them back off the drunk singers as they would wander off into the crowd.
Two people on the job (I mean the Karaoke job), one on the desk and one hosting, good idea when a busy venue, as it helps to keep the night moving along smoothly. The host can mingle, talk and answer questions, look for singers if need etc etc. Someone on the desk makes sure that it is hands on all the time, microphone volume, keeping an eye on the different disc volumes, like vcds and cdgs. There can be a huge variance on music levels.
I may have got it wrong and too lazy to go back and read again. Not sure now if Roz was saying there were two people on the desk and one hosting. Oh well my views anyway. See ya have to pop back to Vic now.
