We use cordless mikes in our show, the main reason being safety, have you felt the weight of a Sure SM58 and can you imaging the damage it would do to someone if it became dislodged when some goose who thinks he's Roger Daltry (that'll date me) swings the mic by the cable at a rate of knotts. SM58's have been the standard mic used for live prformances in the industry for years they are a great mic but as I said in todays climate of public liability litigation e.g. Councils being sued for people tripping over cracked pavements etc. We consider the Cordless style of microphones the safest to use for our punters. As for wandering off stage with them well whatever turns you on, I don't do it nor do most major stars and if it's good enough for them to stay on stage during a performance it's good enough for me.
