Johnny, Thanks for the clarification. Sorry if I offended any muso's with hasty simplistic explanations. The main point I was trying to convey was not to expect that when you ask the KJ to pitch it up or down '3' that you will be getting as much of a change as you think (ie You may think you're going from Do to Fa but it might only be Do to Me) and that it if you try to change it more than that (say, up or down 6) some machines may have to actually speed or slow the track. In reality, you have to experiment as most of us with non-perfect pitch can only cross our fingers and guess what 'up 3 down an octave' will actually sound like. Even trying it at home with the record is confusing. B

My main motivation for writing is that a karaoke singer spends most time as a listener: As such, I'd rather the people I listen to spent a minute getting the key right rather than struggling along the next 3 minutes sharp or flat due to being out of range.
