| From the Where2sing.com forum: Music Addict... Michael Gerber's ideas of systemisation are very good, and about 'working on' rather than 'working in' your business. But what he doesn't explain (perhaps neither does he understand) is that these measures do not necessrily have a bearing on the profitablity of a business. Hence he went broke after publishing the book and following his own ideas, but stayed out of actual bankruptcy on the kindness of his creditors. He then published a rambling book bemoaning his fate called the 'E-Myth (means Entrepreneurial Myth), and just about went to the wall again. I saw him at a seminar when he was promoting his second book, and was not very impressed by the man - seemed about as shonky as Brad Sugars the Australian con-man. They both just about stay out of bankruptcy by selling their ideas to those who will listen, where their income is just enough to support the exotic lifestyle they need to fool some into believing that their ideas can be taken in full and applied to turn a profit in a business. Like all things, there is some useful stuff in what they preach, but I'm stuffed if I can work out how those listening are supposed to know what's good and what's bad. And that's why I consider both men to be conmen.
