I used to use a Michael Gerber video in lectures to make a point about having a system in place rather than 'winging it' (a video also allow me to quote someone else as making the point). I see so many so-called managers in the public sector particularly who have no management training, hence no system.
Relevance to karaoke? Rising Star is a success because they have a system. They have rules and follow them. Even their singers lists on the night are well planned as they go along. They groom new hosts on a regular basis. I see so little of this 'best practise' within many organisations. Schools of management are among the worst offenders!
