From the Where2sing.com forum:

I was reading the post, about sending out single hosts vs a couple of hosts. As an operator of a business it's a tough call. It doesn't matter what gender the person is although a single female host is more at risk than male hosts. What's the difference? In running a gig not much all the guys do a good job. The only part where gender plays a role is setting up a gig now thats a different story. IE speakers and power amps are heavy items, not to mention cases of CDs.

So where does that leave us? Generally the venue will not pay sufficiently to cover the cost of a second person. This is a hard economic reality - yes it's a tough call. But that is generally the reason only one host goes to a gig.
