| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi all, for those who don't know, I am the co-host & techie of Karma Karaoke. Now I have sat back and read most the posts on this recent event and even made some comments myself under my partners Nic.
Now I would like to share with you a little story about nice guy Gary Str8up, not to be spiteful or malicious, but instead to shed some light on the other side of this man from a first hand experience.
I first met Gary last year after returning to my local watering hole from a stint of music directing a community theatrical show and I thought, WOW , what a huge voice with personality to match. AWESOME ! !
Now it wasn't long before I settled back into my lariken style of happily drunk behaviour, which included dancing to awsome singers, a bit of friendly niggling when friends were singing and of course mimmicing singers that i respected.
Now after awhile Gary stopped coming, as happens from time to time with karaoke singers, so we thought nothing of it, 'till about 3 months later when we found out that my partner & I were the cause of his abscense. Having found this out we sent an email apologising for whatever it was that we had done (of which we are still awaiting a reply).
Still later we were to find out from the hosts what had transpired. Apparently Gary & a couple of other people tried to have the hosts throw us out of the gig & ban us from coming ever again, thankfully the hosts had the common sense not to comply as our behaviour did not really warrant such action. Well just like children tantrums were thrown, threats made & when said hosts contacted Gary to try to smooth things over they were met with a barrage of abusive language & suggestions which can't be repeated here.
Now I know there will be alot of replies to this on Gary's behalf & God bless you all, but I remind you this not a malicious attack as I have built my bridge and got over it. This post is intended to shed light on another side of this great man Gary, that not all seem to get to see...Dave
