lorri M...
I know not if any current Indy finalists post here (besides yourself, of course) but many a comp finalist does post here. I'm an ex-one myself and they haven't yet managed to shut me up here! lol

Narly Strumpet...
LOL!
Indeed, I do tend to rave on. I just like sharing my opinion that's all - and I try my best to not be ambiguous lest people go off on the wrong tangent.
As for the 'Karaoke Mafia,' only myself and El Barto seem to have remained here. We weren't TOO egotistical, I hope! It was just a bit of an in-joke between us all and at the time, the term suited us.
Funny you should jokingly refer to me as the 'Godfather.' At the Triple 8 Bar in the CBD of Sydney, there was a karaoke patron I knew who I think had OCD or some such affliction which saw him OBSESSED with Marlon Brando of all people and he was rather talkative - think of any of my 9 and a half page essays here, 'square it' and turn it into actual conversation and that was how much this guy TALKED at any one time about nothing in particular (let alone something he was interested in - like Marlon Brando for example)! Anyway, I have a talent for impersonation and Brando just happens to be one of the voices I can do. The only way I could make this guy shut up was to impersonate Brando when asking him to please be quiet. He'd give a delighted grin on hearing the voice of his idol talking to him, then say, 'Oh! Sorry, Godfather! Very sorry, Godfather!' and then SHUT UP! lol
Sigh... I love it when a plan comes together! He wasn't a bad guy, this patron. He just couldn't put a sock in it - but then, look who's talking! lol
Amazing the people one finds at karaoke, isn't it? People from all walks of life - barring (perhaps) the mega wealthy.
I don't think I've yet encountered anyone who considers karaoke as either just 'okay' or 'not that great;' they either LOVE it or they LOATHE it. Could it be the diverse range of people one can find at karaoke that causes this? Those who love it have probably not only gotten their kicks on stage themselves (or just through admiring those who do) but also appreciate how so many people from various walks of life can enjoy the karaoke experience. Those who loathe it, I guess, have only seen people they don't like grace the stage.
Do any of the rest of you have thoughts on this matter?

Hope to see a few of you at Chatty RSL tomorrow night (work permitting) - make that TOnight (it's past midnight now).
