From the Where2sing.com forum:

James:It sounds like you had it tough... We did a gig that was $65 a head and booked the venue out and the meal was delicious and the entertainment was worth coming back for again. Which we were asked to do and booked the venue out secound time around. I think it all depends on how good the entertainer can entertain a crowd that makes it work. It shouldn't make any driference if the person is in front of a live band or using backing tracks, if you can entertainer it comes across the same. Another wise we wouldn't be so successful with our shows. In saying that I would love to sing in front of a 8 peice band and I understand what you are trying to get across to me. I suppose it is a matter of choice are you there to hear the singer or a band? Just go along and enjoy the music of the late John Denver who I love 'SunShine On My shoulders' always brings tears to my eyes, if he isn't up to your standard demand a refund.... Cheers Elly
