From the Where2sing.com forum:

Johnny B... the setup of W2S and its database is such that online searchable karaoke lists would be possible - and this is something I have previously pondered.

A few hosts are finding value in having their karaoke lists on their websites, in that it takes their singers to their website and helps build email contacts, it discourages singers from stealing songlists, and it encourages new singers to visit their shows. However, songlists tend to currently start as a list on the host's computer which is printed for their shows and uploaded to their website. And for this reason many hosts' songbooks and websites are hopelessly out of date.

What you are suggesting is easily done once hosts have their songlists on W2S - and this is really where the work gets a little bit more complex. But here is my suggesion of the process:

1. W2S builds a database of tracks, selectable by hosts simply keying in the disc number (and then checking that the tracks are correct).
2. Hosts update their W2S songlist as new discs are bought and old ones are removed.
3. Hosts export their list to their website, and download a .pdf file of their songlist ready for printing
4. Singers can then search all songlists on W2S to find matching hosts and gigs (and do all the other things that JohnnyB suggests).

There are already many ways that hosts can maintain their songlists, the problem being that these do not include being searchable on a central database such as W2S.

The project is one that would take a fair bit of time, so hosts would need to undertake to utilise such a W2S facility before I commit the time to build this.
