From the Where2sing.com forum:

I always tell my friends to view your site for all brisbane venues and I am shocked and surprized that now you seem to charge for this info . I was told by my friends that you have to pay this is how I found out about your fees. And yes I have never had a venue as I am an agent for clubs . And so as I said I think it bizzare that you charge for a free service . Thank you for your time .

Thanks for your reply, and I'll answer at length because you're presenting an unusual and interesting scenario: Firstly, to be 'shocked and surprised' is really rather dramatic - how do you go when you find you're expected to pay your phone bill? And especially since you're in the karaoke business and not just a social singer - how many of your other suppliers of goods, services and information provide them free? And if any had been doing so since late 2003, and now started to charge a minimal fee, wouldn't you feel rather grateful for the last couple of years freebies than be 'shocked and surprised'? And you're a agent, and have never listed a gig on W2S for your customers (even though it is free)? Much of W2S is still free. If you're not a singer, and don't list your customers' gigs on W2S, and don't go to karaoke gigs and therefore have no need of their address and phone number, exactly what are you missing? In two years you haven't posted on a forum, supplied a new listing, provided details on any existing listing, taken up the offer of a bold listing in return for putting W2S Insert Sheets in your songbooks, or contributed any piece of information useful to others. You did, however, once enter a free comp in the hope of winning a free karaoke disc. In short, there's nothing you have done in the past that you can't still continue to do totally free. Or are you telling me that for two years you've been enjoying the free resource of every detail of all the karaoke gigs, using these to find new places to sing, passing the information around your friends - and now that you need to Subscribe to get this info, that you're unwilling to give back a little to the person who has provided you with so much over the last two years? Surely anyone who doesn't willingly pay the small subsciption fee for W2S info, especially those who are using it on a weekly basis, is exactly the sort of person who doesn't deserve access to a resource like W2S?
