| From the Where2sing.com forum: Legs: The best advice I could offer to a competition entrant, just be yourself and enjoy the ride. Do people really want to acquire a 'shopping list' before entering a contest and bend their performance to suit? Some of the most engaging and entertaining performers I have watched - both in karaoke and in live music, wouldn't win on pure vocal quality, presentation but on the total package. Likewise, many popular performers aren't great singers [in fact, their recordings often disappoint in their flatness] but shine in a live performance.
If you *do* want to seriously aim for a competition, to prove you can do it, or the thrill of saying I won I'd say sit back and observe, what are they looking for - really? Ask yourself, is that me? rinise and repeat until the answers match ;). Broadening your experience by visiting other karaoke shows and live music events can also be a great idea infuser.
