From the Where2sing.com forum:

i was one of the finalists at chatty & at any grandfinals ive been involved in, i NEVER dress up for the simple reason that i treat a karaoke grandfinals the same as any regular karaoke session. i NEVER expect anything because first & foremost im aware of the level of talent im competing against & if i think that i have one iota of a chance beating them then im just kidding myself. call it negativity, i call it reality. i dont practice, i dont prepare a song weeks ahead & i dont wear 'puffy shirts' as what jerry seinfeld described them. i pick songs based on what the audience is like. if there are more 'younger' people in the crowd then i sing whatever caters to them. i sang that franz ferdinand song even though i know its not your typical 'grandfinal' song because i was aware of the many english/irish folks present and true enough after my performance, i was getting big props. one hot-looking girl literally has her face all over my ears prasing my performance and to me that is worth more than $100 bux on offer. i would've loved to get to the second round not because its one step towards the money round but because the song i selected would probably elicit another pat in the back from people. of course a grandfinals would never be complete without the usual bitchings/whinings but i thought the judges got it all right as far as the top 4 were concerned. probably not in the same order as i would've preferred but at the end of the day i knew i made people happy & i felt satisfied with what i've done, slightly embarassed though with my pathetic dance moves but hey, at least i made the effort.
