| From the Where2sing.com forum: That's really quite interesting, and I, for one, did wonder how Andrew would respond to the invitation by BPM to look after a gig for him. It wasn't that long ago that one of Andrew's gigs was lost to BPM as they were running a competition. Certainly, if I were Andrew I'd be asking myself, given BPM's record, whether I'd really get my gig back after the one-off substitution. Hmmm...
Now all's fair in business, and I reckon that if BPM can use the drawcard of a competition to gather a few gigs, albeit that some of these may dump their regular host in favour of BPM, that's probably all part of a winning business strategy. Venues have the right to choose hosts as they feel fit, and it's only the hosts who have taken to time to execute a contract who can feel safe.
But it probably doesn't engender any really good comradeship from other hosts, and I wonder whether those who are seen to poach others' gigs, whether it can be justified or not in a business sense, might find themselves targetted by those hosts who feel they have been poorly dealth with?
