Re male / female duets: Obviously, it would be prudent to wait and see if our voices are musically match worthy, before we commit to a duet. Some singers may individually have great voices but really shouldn't team up. Consider whenever you hear any of the 3 tenors singing with Diana Ross or Michael Bolton etc. Just tragic...
HOWEVER, if we decide it's a go, here's some ideas for you.
My favourite male / female duet is one most have never heard of and only one show I know of stocks: Elvis Presley and Ann Margaret's 'You're The Boss.' Close second is 'Cruisin'.' I know many don't like that one but besides liking the song, because I know the male harmony, I like singing it. I also like singing the male part of Mariah's version of 'I'll Be There.' Nat and daughter Natalie's 'Unforgettable' (the Karaoke Headquarters version) is another favourite of mine.
I recently learned 'Pictures' by Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow for a friend but she's complained of not being anywhere near drunk enough to actually grace the stage for that one and has only once been drunk enough to attempt karaoke at all in the couple of years we've known each other. So, I'm open to trying that one too if you know it.
'The Look' by Roxette's a good one though I'd like to have a crack at some other duets of theirs. I actually love a song by Aqua called 'Doctor Jones' - the guy from that group actually has a deep voice which is great - but along with many of my song choices, people either don't like it or don't know it and I've never actually heard it sung at karaoke, so for all I know, it could be a lame version.
If you know Right Said Fred's 'Don't Talk, Just Kiss' and we are fortunate to find it on a list somewhere, it might be good for us both (deep voiced guy and powerfully voiced woman).
I do like Luther and Janet's 'The Best Things In Life Are Free' but the only version I've heard on karaoke appears to be some kind of remix and I find it difficult to pitch given that it's mainly drums audible on that track for some reason and they're not even close to the rhythm of the actual song itself.
I can be MADE to do various other duets like that horrible Aqua song of 'Barbie Girl' or the usual Grease duets, Lionel and Diana's 'Endless Love,' Neil and Barbra's 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers,' B-52's' 'Love Shack.' Pretty versatile.
I'm afraid quality wise, the Phantom of the Opera duet's are a tad too high for me currently. Sure I can hit the notes but they don't sound altogether pleasant.
If you wish to annoy our fellow patrons with the time factor of Meatloaf's 'Paradise By The Dashboard Light,' I'm game. Never done that well with it but I've recently extended the range so, I'm willing to give it another shot.
Don't know the Bryan Adams, Tom Jones, Joe Cocker or Kylie duets, I'm afraid. Gonna have to learn that one by Kylie and Nick Cave. Nick has a voice nearly as deep as my pure comfort range so I'll try to find a recording of that one. Only heard part of it once so no guarantee I'll like it enough to learn.
(Why are high voiced male singers so commonplace? Just not fair! Ol' Man River and Barry White songs get pretty high for me and yet I'm singing bloomin' Bon Jovi, Axl Rose and Robbie Williams. Ay ay ay ay ay AY...!!!)
Those are the duets off the top of my head but there's likely a song or 3 I've missed kicking around somewhere too. Hopefully, they'll be enough to get you started. If you have others you'd like to suggest, do. I'm open.

Speaking of 'Open'....
Legs...
lol... If we all manage to get down to Quakers on Thursday and you'd still desire an exchange of email details after meeting in person, we can do so then, can't we? =)
