From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hey Rob Deal...
Thanks for that. I have heard of that program but no, never tried it. I've just downloaded the installation files for a few programs and am about to test them out now. Best Play, WavePad, Sound Engine Free and something called Reaper. There was a very complex sounding program called DestroY Media Player or something which apparently does everything but clean your house for you but I figured that was a bit too advanced even for me - not that I'm saying, 'I'm so smart,' or anything. I just meant I tend to get stuff that can handle everything and then I just learn as I go rather than need to use several programs or plug-ins).
As for why we haven't all gotten together, well, nice idea conceptually but personally, I'm too much of a control freak when it comes to my own songs. I write them all, record every instrument line (even the individual drum and percussion sounds), mix them and master them. That way, when pay day comes, there'll be no divvying up the $ between myself and other musicians. Also, the songs maintain their integrity which, as a song writer, is important to me. There are a couple of songs, my father's either contributed a few lyrics to or even written a poem for me to put to music. I really want to get my head around mixing though. Sometimes a song can sound great through headphones but lousy through the PC and vice versa. Other times, I can get it sounding great for both those but play it on a stereo and again, sounds terrible. Aargh!!! I'd hate to take what I think is a decent recording of my songs along to karaoke and then have them sound awful through the sound system there! Don't have the time or the dosh to take up a sound engineering course unfortunately, so like my playing and composing, I'll just have to 'play by ear.' Keeps Life interesting anyway. =)
Thanks again, Rob. Quick question, does Cool Edit only support live recording or can you import a pre-existent wav file, say? Then, how easy is it to synchronize those individual wav's? I ask because I'm pretty hopeless as a musician. It might take me a hundred takes before I get an instrument line right since I'm such a perfectionist and I've found drop-in recording (for just correcting specific points in a song) detectable either through a human timing error or a subtle change in recording quality, so I always just re-record an entire line if ever there's a 'mistake.' That was why my Bond song never made it out the door because the last note is high, powerful (so that it has to sound as if it's deep) and held FOREVER and I could get the rest of the song down pat but then that bl**dy note would stuff me up and I'd have to start all over again!!! Then, I'd make mistakes in other parts!
X@ lol. Ah, the frustration!!!
